Installing Glosswood on a Curve
One of the most common questions we’re asked is: “Can Glosswood be installed on a curved surface?”
The short answer: yes — and it can look incredible when done right.
Our lining boards feature a Tongue & Groove profile with a slight allowance, which makes it possible to follow the arc of a wall or ceiling. For sharper curves, our form series round profile and individual round trim can be used to achieve a tighter contour.
For a Gradual Curve
When working with a gentle curve, it’s best to install the boards so that the Tongue & Groove runs parallel to the arc of the wall or ceiling. Simply fit the boards comfortably into place (without forcing them too tightly), secure with pins, and allow the polyurethane glue to hold the profile firmly.
On one recent project, our Concave profile was taken around an internal curved wall. To achieve a seamless finish, the installation team cut into the back of the boards, creating additional flexibility.
For a SharpArc
If your design includes a tight curve, our Form Series Round Profile paired with individual Round Trim is ideal. The slimmer profile of the trim allows it to bend smoothly around sharper circumferences. This method works beautifully when combined with the Form Series Round Profile on the flat sections, reserving the battens for the curved areas where additional flexibility is required.
