How we are making a difference
The materials we use to design and build our homes and workplaces have a lasting impact. At Glosswood, our approach is simple: use plantation and new-growth timbers, manufacture locally, and make products designed to last.
Plantation and New-Growth Timber
All Glosswood products are made from responsibly grown plantation and new-growth species. These timbers grow quickly — reaching maturity in 10–35 years — making them a practical alternative to slow-growth hardwoods. By using plantation timber, we reduce pressure on native forests while supporting a reliable, renewable source of material.
Designed for Longevity and Reuse
By choosing fast-growing plantation timbers over manufactured composites, projects reduce reliance on energy-intensive materials. Our lining boards are durable and can be maintained over time. If spaces require updating, they can be sanded, repainted, or re-oiled to extend their use. Unlike composite ‘timber-look’ products, they remain functional and adaptable after installation.
Reducing Packaging Waste
Glosswood uses compostable mailers, kraft paper, and paper tape for sending samples. For larger orders, products are wrapped in recyclable plastic for protection during transport, and shipped in timber crates. In Western Australia, crates are collected and reused where possible, and packaging materials are repurposed when suitable.
Reducing VOC’s and harmful materials in production
Our manufacturing process is carefully considered to minimise impact, with a sensitivity to avoiding harmful materials and an ongoing commitment to innovation in production processes. Since 2004, our Satin finish has been free from volatile organic compounds(VOCs), ensuring a safer product for interiors and reducing harmful chemical emissions. We continue to review coating systems to balance durability, appearance, and environmental impact.
Sustainable Sponsorships
Glosswood sponsors projects that support regenerative, sustainable initiatives. We support environmental and community initiatives, including Trillion Trees, a not-for-profit working to restore biodiversity through native tree planting.
