29 Sep Glosswood in… pastel pink
A boutique nail bar approached NV Design Agency to create a personalised experience for clients. Nail Society has a cosy, feminine feel with custom brass fittings, pink panelling and unique mosaic tiles. The Brisbane design firm used Glosswood’s Round profile throughout the interior, painted a bespoke pink shade.
The interior is full of curves; from the sphere lighting to the mosaic tiles. The design team wanted to continue this not only in the arc of the counter, but also the timber installed onto it. The flat sections use Glosswood’s Round boards, while the curved section of the counter use matching individual Round trims.
The raw paulownia timber offers versatility, allowing clients to produce a custom shade in the Glosswood profiles. To achieve a bespoke colour for Nail Society, the raw timber was painted on site by the installer in “Fairy Pink” from the Dulux range. The salon owners wanted to stand out from competitor nail salons, and the soft hues and modern feel of the nail bar certainly achieves this.
The interior has a playful feel, which extends to the materials. Glosswood’s Round profile has a “batten look” with the easy installation of a lining board. Another reason NV Design selected the Round is for its lightweight characteristics and easy installation. The 2.4 metre boards were cut down to size on site then painted. NV Design Agency took the project from concept design through to completion. See more imagery by visiting their blog.
