05 May Early childhood centre by HAL Architects
HAL Architects have created a cosy early childhood centre on the Mid North Coast of NSW. The Smartland Boutique Early Learning reception is finished with Glosswood. Designer Lining boards and timber Beams were used to add warmth and texture. HAL Architects were looking for a product that would make a feature, but could withstand the busy environment. Colour Spotted Gum was selected for the project, and has created a stunning detail.
The space was designed to have a colour palette that is inviting, homely and calm. Glosswood’s Spotted Gum colour ties in with the warm neutrals of the entrance space. The matte finish has varying shades of soft browns, and ties in with the Teak furniture in the facility.
Prekaro Projects had a tight installation timeline, and were looking for a timber board that could be installed swiftly. Glosswood is lightweight and has a tongue-and-groove profile, meaning it is quick and easy to install. The timber walling shows off the carpentry skill with the curved cut-outs filled with greenery on the main feature wall.
In addition to using Glosswood’s Designer Lining profile, decorative Beams were also used in the project (seen above). The Beams act as a partitioning elements between the entrance space and classroom. Made from Paulownia timber, the beams have a beautiful, natural timber grain.
