01 Mar Considerations when ordering Glosswood
Looking to use Glosswood on your upcoming project?
We’ve put together a list of considerations to make the ordering and installation process smooth and stress free!
IS GLOSSWOOD SUITABLE FOR YOUR APPLICATION?
Before commencing your project, it is important to look at where the product is being installed and the suitability.
Glosswood can installed on:
- Internal walls
- Internal ceilings
- External walls i.e. wall under patio area – given that it is undercover & protected from the elements.
- External ceilings i.e. protected portico or patio space – given that it is undercover & protected from the elements.
WHAT IS YOUR PROJECT LEAD TIME?
Generally speaking, Glosswood is installed in the later stages of a renovation or new build as it is a ‘finishing’ product. We strongly recommend checking the product and delivery lead time with our team prior to booking in a trades-person. If the colour and profile you are interested in is not in stock, our team will need to manufacture your order.
WHO IS INSTALLING THE PRODUCT
If you’re using a carpenter, we recommend booking the trades-person well before requiring the product to be installed. This will allow the trades-person time to collect tools or materials if required.
Alternatively, the experienced DIYer can install our timber lining boards by following our comprehensive Installation Guides.
The quantities can be calculated by square metre or lineal metre. If you have questions about working out quantities, speak with the Glosswood team and consult your qualified designer or installer. We recommend approx. 10% wastage as a general rule for most projects.
NOTE: Ensure the board coverage is considered when calculating the quantities. Board coverage refers to the face of the lining board that is visible, as a few millimetres is hidden in the tongue and groove once installed i.e. the 90mm board has a coverage of 86mm.
READ THE INSTALLATION GUIDE
It’s important to read the Installation & Maintenance Guides prior to installing Glosswood. The Guides advise on fixing and future maintenance.
The guides can be found on the Glosswood website and in your order pack.
